The landscape and nature of Gijzenrooi

Do you know the beautiful Gijzenrooi?

Located between Eindhoven and Geldrop, this area still maintains a wonderful traditional agricultural landscape. Small plots lined with hedges and tree rows, where cows roam in the fields and organic cereals are produced.

And, of course, full with animals and plants! This diverse landscape provides shelter and food for a great variety of species. Buzzards soaring above us, great-tits and woodpeckers climbing on trees, bumblebees buzzing for nectar, the familiar sound of a cuckoo close-by and wild flowers colouring the fields.

I will guide you on a walk through Gijzenrooi,  always on the look-out for the wildlife present there.  There is a lot to discover and I will help you discover this protected landscape!

Practicalities:

- The meeting point is close to the Bunderkensven bus stop - you can use line 12 from central station, which also crosses the city centre. Or come by bike (or car, there is parking around), of course.

- The walk should be 5 to 6 km long - depending on what we find along the way and how much time we stop.

- This walk will take place with min. 4 persons and max. 12 persons

- You will be guided by Nuno, an experienced and enthusiastic urban  wildlife ecologist, which will share all his nature stories with you!

- Bring comfortable walking shoes (watertight if it has been raining) and, if you have, binoculars and/or photo camera (not mandatory!).
